It's official, we will be going to Disney World in October of next year too! Ahhh, the beauty of being DVC owners! Since I received 320 points to use this year and we've already gone this year, I banked those points for next year, so we have 640 points to use next year. Our April/May trip for 2010 uses 511 points. We have 129 points left we can carry over to 2011 or use in 2010 so we're going to use them!April/May is our 'choice' time to go - the crowds are low because it's right after Spring Break/Easter and before Memorial Day weekend. The weather is usually mid 80's and that's perfect for us as we are in Pennsylvania so there's nothing like leaving the dreary cold winter/early spring of PA and heading to sunny Florida!
However, now that we are Disney Vacation Club members, we'd like to go during other times of the year just to experience the different themes. I would love to be there over Yule time and even Thanksgiving sounds nice. Of course, my favorite time of the year is Autumn and we love Halloween so we thought we'd check out Disney in October.
Since our 'regular' trip is in April/May and we want to try October, that means Olivia would miss school twice in the same school year so we have to take our October trip during Columbus Day weekend, which I am sure will be more of a crowded time but we gotta do what we gotta do, LOL Besides, we only have 129 points to use so that means a one bedroom villa (sleeps 5) and a standard view - which probably means I'll be looking at some other part of Bay Lake Tower or a parking lot, HA!We plan on arriving on a Friday and having the whole day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, coming home Monday (Olivia has off Monday) so she will only miss 1 day of school. We'll have 3 full days at WDW and that will 'cost' us 109 points so I'll still be able to bank 20 points for 2011!
On a side note, this does mean we will have to fly and I am NOT looking forward to that but I have come to realize that if I want to vacation once or even twice a year in Florida, eventually flying is going to be quicker and easier than driving for 2 days.
