Walt Disney World Vacation '09 - Day 2 Part 6

Thursday, May 14, 2009
We got back to the Polynesian with plenty of time to freshen up before heading over to the Great Ceremonial House where we had 5:30 dinner reservations at the Kona Cafe - this was my Mother in law's pick and I'm glad we added it in!

Here is a picture of the waterfall in the main lobby of the Polynesian's Great Ceremonial House:

Here it is again, this time, the photos were taken from the second floor:

When we got there I double checked our reservations. The reservations were for 5 - we were a party of 6. Scrolling down the reservation sheet I noticed ALL of our reservations were for 5 not 6. I felt a bit panicked! I brought this to the attention of the CM at the podium. I told her that we were a party of 6 - 3 adults, 2 children and one child under the age of 3 - who is considered an infant. Apparently Wyatt was supposed to be considered! I figured as much - so I knew at that point I would have to cal all the other places I had reservations and make sure he could be added.

They were wonderful and were more than happy to accommodate us. WHEW! Yay for that 'Disney Magic'! Kona Cafe has YUMMY food and is now on our list of must visit for future trips.

I didn't take this photo, found it on the internet.

Once we were seated things kind of went downhill because of Dante. Not sure what was wrong but he was just miserable and argumentative and overly wound up. CJ took him out of the restaurant and said they were going back to the room. Memories of when this happened last trip came flooding back. Thankfully, after about 10 minutes they came back and Dante was a bit better. Unfortunately we didn't relax during this meal. It was kind of like hurry up and eat before Dante has another meltdown.

We were gong to go swimming after dinner but the kids wanted to go back to the Magic Kingdom so that's what we did. It was a bit more crowded than the night before. We headed over to Fantasyland for a few rides.

Then, Olivia and Dante wanted to go on Splash Mountain - they were both on it last year and loved it. Well, Dante didn't really like the inside of it and if you ask me, it IS kinda morbid and creepy! However, they both loved the drop and getting wet. So, we trekked over to Frontierland - it was really humid that evening and at that moment I had suddenly felt like I hit a brick wall - a brick wall of tiredness. In fact, everyone was feeling that way.

Since it was evening, Splash Mountain was all lit up and I guess that made it look scary.

Dante and Livi whined it was too scary and they didn't want to go on. I was too tired to try and convince them to go on and that they loved it last time - this time it's just at night, so we decided to leave the park.

I got a good shot of the Castle on the way out:

On the way out CJ asked if we should just stay for Wishes. I was tempted and we even found a spot on Main St. but after about 20 minutes I said forget it! It was a busy day and we got more done that day than I thought we would. We decided it was best to leave so we took the monorail back to the Polynesian and crashed for the night.

To be continued...

We had our share of meltdowns too. I think they just get over tired and thats how they deal with it.
