We left that horrid motel at 5 am, I could not wait to leave. Screw the continental breakfast, ewww, no way! When I went to check out I couldn't even get in to the main lobby, it was locked. I had to use some key drop thing and the clerk was behind this bullet proof glass. Yea, made me feel safe.
We continued our drive and finally, it was uneventful. We made it home by about 3 pm. I was so glad to be home.
In conclusion:
The dining plan is a waste of money. Gratuity and tax is not included anymore so you still have to *pay* at table service meals. There was so much we didn't use and not just because of my screw up. There were snacks and quick meals not used. Well, until the last day, we used up all our snacks and got stuff for the drive home.
I will never travel with a large group again. Vacations will now only be CJ and me or CJ, me and our kids. That's it.
I tried to have a very loose itinerary but it was too loose and we missed out on a lot. I will plan much better IF there is a next time.
Even if it seems like a child is old enough to go, they may not be. I thought my kids' ages were perfect for this trip. Olivia was probably the only one who was old enough. 5 is a good age. Wyatt wasn't too bad even though he was only 18 months at the time of the trip, he was pleasant most of the time. Dante was the problem and not because he's a bad kid because he's not. It was because he was 2 1/2 and way over stimulated. My advice is to wait until kids are at LEAST 4-5 years old before going.
In the end, yes, it was an awful trip but not because of where we went or where we stayed but because of all the events that surrounded us and who we went with. it was a lesson learned and although I love my extended family dearly, I will never vacation with them again.
Grandma update:
The doctors here at home said my grandmother does NOT have congestive heart failure and that it is indeed pneumonia. She goes back to the doctor this coming week for another chest x-ray, so we shall see~
