Walt Disney World Vacation '08 - Day 2 Part 5

Saturday, May 24, 2008
I suggested to everyone that maybe we should just relax and take our time in Epcot until dinner rather than try to rush back to the Poly only to have to rush back in time for dinner. All agreed and then my mother, once again, decided she thought the kids would like to see the Nemo ride. Seemed she was always deciding what the kids would want to see. I mean, I understand how she *thought* they'd like to see and experience certain things but it was always her decision as to what we would do next. If I would disagree or suggest something else, *I* was the one being a dillweed, so I learned early in the trip to TRY and refrain. After getting a drink and a few snacks, we all headed over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends and were happy to see the wait was less than 5 minutes. That was pretty much the only *happy* in that day.
Now, you all need to know that CJ was very against leaving a stroller anywhere because he had heard too many stories from people saying their things were taken out of their stroller(s) or the strollers themselves were actually taken, when being left outside of an attraction. For this attraction, we were told the strollers had to be left outside and so CJ bitched and moaned about it the entire time we parked them. We made sure to take all of our things out of the strollers and carry them with us. We actually had this same issue while at the character meet thing. I wasn't as freaked out about it but oh well.
Off we march into the attraction with GRANDMA of all people, in the lead. Now, remember, she is on this freaking scooter and she is suddenly leading us and a crowd of other random people in and out of the roped area to get to the ride. There was no *line* in front of us and nobody walking through ahead of us either. Sounds awesome to some people, right? It was a disaster for us. Grandma was having difficulty maneuvering the damn scooter and couldn't really see where she was going as it's very dimly lit inside this attraction. Suddenly more ad more people are becoming backlogged behind us and I could hear some people sighing and becoming impatient at the slow travel. Then it happened...The freaking scooter STOPPED! It just died. She couldn't move and everyone behind s came to a halt. There were no CMs anywhere to be found and I feel a sweat break out. Don't forget, I have 3 kids with me, who are OVER tired and grumpy, a bitchy CJ (although he'll say he wasn't), my mom hobbling along and poor CJ's mom, just trying to go with the flow.
At this point all I can picture is us trying to pick the freaking thing up to get it out of the way. My mom and CJ are looking it over trying to figure out what was wrong and I am waving people by us, who by the way, are practically running past us like we weren't even there.
Let me just say that I have always had respect and concern for the elderly and the handicapped, so watching people act as they did really pissed me off.
Finally we get it working again, not sure what was wrong. Then grandma was complaining that she couldn't see in there and didn't want to go on. I think she was just super embarrassed. My mom points out that there's a headlight on the scooter.
Now, trying to move forward was a challenge because even though I was no longer waving people past us, they still continued to march on by. I told grandma to just gun it and she did, yay grandma! The people who wound up behind us looked at us as if we had just taken their only child. Screw you people.
If you've ever been on this attraction then you know it's an actual ride and to get in the car to go through the ride you have to step onto a moving floor because the cars themselves keep moving. Yes, they did sow it down for grandma so she could get on. Mom and Fawn in one car, grandma and Livi in one car and CJ, Dante, Wyatt and me in another car. All was well, at last. Or was it??? Of course not!

To be continued...
