Walt Disney World Vacation '08 - Day 2 Part 4

Saturday, May 24, 2008
The character meet would have been a nice idea, had I prepared for it. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared to stand in line for over an hour with 3 kids just to have their pictures taken with characters. I know, I sound like a bad mom, huh? Well, tough nuggies, you weren't the one standing there for over an hour while Dante and Olivia got restless standing there and whining and complaining the whole time.

Finally, it's almost our turn to see the characters:

By this point Dante had had enough and was out of control. He didn't want to listen, wanted to just run up and scream at the characters (yea, he is going through a screaming/hitting phase) and it took all of us to manage him. It was total chaos and people just looked at us like we had a child with 5 heads. Like their kids never got out of control, right.
Once you get in the shorter lines (yea, there are other lines after the big line...) the CM (cast members/those who work at Disney) push you through the lines and all that waiting is just to be thrown at the characters get a quick picture and then off you go.

We FINALLY saw Photopass people. No shit, I couldn't find any in the parks until that very moment. A Photopass is this: You get this card that has a bar code on it. A CM will scan the bar code and then take photos of your family for you, this way everyone can be in the photos. Once you're home, you log in to the Photopass website and enter in the authorization code found on your card. There you can see all your photos. You can personalize them, you can created a CD of them and buy some, etc...It's a good idea and my mom was hell bent on us having one. I found out, via the MouseHouseMagic forum that this could be pre-ordered at a discounted rate, so I pre-registered before we went on our trip. (If you're interested, here's the link: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx)
So, the CM hands me a Photopass card and I get it scanned for the first photo. Now, the photos you will see next are not the Photopass photos. I never ordered any because this day was the ONLY time I saw any Photopass people and so for me, it was a waste of $ to have.
Okay, so here are the shitty ass photos of the kids with characters. I say shitty ass because the photos suck. Half the time we weren't looking at the camera (CJ was taking the pictures so it's his fault. I do think his mom got some pictures too) Dante was hitting Pluto and I was yelling at him to stop. For that picture Pluto got him in a freaking choke hold, LOL. It was just a catastrophe and a VERY stressful part of the day. Not fun at all.

Here is Dante beating on Pluto:
Here's Pluto keeping Dante under control:
Here's Goofy (no Dante in these photos, he was busy having a meltdown):
Minnie (we BEGGED Dante to be nice to Minnie and he was. Wyatt kept trying to pull at her ear. By this time Wyatt wasn't as afraid of the characters anymore):

I'm only posting some of the pictures, I can't bear to go through them all. We did see Mickey and Chip N Dale as well.
After this whole ordeal I was ready to go back to the resort and die. Seriously, it was THAT stressful. It was already close to 2:30pm by this time and I knew if we headed back to the resort we'd never make it back for our dinner reservations. After knowing how long it took for all of us to get our shit together and GET to Epcot that morning, I thought it'd be a clusterfuck going back to the resort at this time of day. The park was busy, the kids were hungry because we missed lunch, since we had a late breakfast. I knew by the time we'd get everyone's cranky ass back to the resort, we'd have to turn around and leave to get back to be on time for our dinner reservations.
This day was going downhill. Since we didn't plan on being in the park all day, we didn't bring any water or snacks for the kids and I only had a few diapers with me. This day was about to get BAD, real bad.

To be continued...
